Nozawa: Where Hot Springs Meet World Class Skiing

The charming village of Nozawa Onsen is a skiing resort steeped in Japanese culture and tradition. These contradictory elements are exemplified by the steam rising from hallowed onsens, in stark contrast to icy slopes nearby. Ryokans and rustic sotoyus with their own hot springs, happily coexist with fantastic ski runs and excellent lift infrastructure.

Since the first skis hit the powder at Nozawa, this village has remained the birthplace of skiing in Japan. The resort has developed into a world class ski resort, while firmly sticking to its Japanese traditions. This is the essence of Nozawa Onsen, a resort that has flourished while maintaining the cultural village as its core.
